Remember the good old days when we thought it would only take a nuclear bomb to shift Theresa May out of the PM’s seat?
Clearly from the timing he’s trying to disincentivise people from voting against the Tories.
They should remember his record on vows, pledges, promises, and lying before going out and voting not-Tory.
>GOV.UK: Press release: [PM meeting with President of Rwanda: 23 June 2022](https://www.gov.uk/government/news/pm-meeting-with-president-of-rwanda-23-june-2022)
>
>The Prime Minister met Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame this morning.
>
>[…]
>
>The leaders also **praised the successful** UK-Rwanda Migration and Economic Development Partnership, which is tackling dangerous smuggling gangs while offering people a chance to build a new life in a safe country.
What of it has been successful so far? Any ideas?
Independent:
>That is despite no flights having taken off in the two months since a £120 million deal with Rwanda was signed as plans face legal challenges.
Losing Wakefield would be understandable but losing both? Tiverton went 60+% Tory in the last 2 elections, its never been anything but Conservative since 1997.
>Boris Johnson said he will stress the “obvious merits” of his Rwanda asylum policy to the Prince of Wales when they hold talks in Kigali after Charles’s reported criticism.
>
>The Prime Minister struck out at “condescending” opponents of plans to forcibly remove migrants to the East African nation, a policy the prince is said to have called “appalling”.
>
>He was prepared to defend the faltering policy on Friday when Charles hosts him for talks over cups of tea in the Rwandan capital, where they are attending a Commonwealth summit.
[…]
>During an interview with broadcasters at a school in Kigali, the Prime Minister said he would defend the policy to the heir to the throne.
>
>“People need to keep an open mind about the policy, the critics need to keep an open mind about the policy. A lot of people can see its obvious merits. So yeah, of course, if I am seeing the prince tomorrow, I am going to be making that point,” Mr Johnson said.
>
>Speaking to reporters as he prepared to fly to Rwanda, Mr Johnson had said the trip is an opportunity “for us all to understand for ourselves what that partnership has to offer”.
>
>“Let’s hope, perhaps help others to shed some of their condescending attitudes to Rwanda and how that partnership might work,” he added. …

From the Guardian article:
>The prime minister is expected to meet Prince Charles on Thursday, their first encounter since it was widely claimed that the prince had described the government’s Rwanda plan as appalling.
>
>They will have a “bilateral” meeting on Friday, which the PM’s aides say will be informal.
>
>Asked if Prince Charles was one of those condescending people, Johnson said on Wednesday: “I can’t confirm that. What I can say is that I think that the policy is sensible, measured, and it’s a plan to deal with the grotesque abuse of innocent people crossing the Channel.”
Good. If they lose these two by-elections, may he preside over many more.
There is more chance of Jesus retuning than there is of ourrrr Boris doing anything ethical or in the best interests of anyone but himself.
At this stage I kinda want the liar-bility to stay in post.
I’ll be doing my little bit to try and get rid of the pillock by voting in the Wakefield by-election later on today 🙂
We are now stuck with the lump. The tories voted narrowly to keep him as King so we have no other way to dethrone him unless an election is called. We might want to think about the future of how our country deals with itself. Otherwise we’re just waiting for the next boris to show up and shit on everything
He won the no confidence. His party want him.
Why would he go?
Well he never laid down in that ditch he promised so we know his word only means something when a Russian Oligarch has paid him to say it.
The only way he’ll leave is if he loses his seat, he loses a leadership election or he dies.
He will never willingly give up power.
I’m starting to think that if there was a GE he would do a trump and attempt to not leave. Boris is doing something dangerous, he is effectively saying that he seems himself as an autocratic dictator.
I don’t mind if he stays until the next GE at this point. A new leader gives the tories chance to ‘rebrand’ and blame everything on Boris.
A snap election (which he’s already ruled out) would drop Labour directly into impending doom and the tories would forever blame the inflation/recession on them.
I’d prefer Boris to stay and take the entire party down with him at the next election in two years. In the meantime, Labour can sort themselves out and make themselves electable. Keir and Angela resigning might be a kick up the arse from what we currently have. Alternatively, I’d happily vote for the Lib Dems if my vote wasn’t wasted (red wall seat).
On one hand would be great for this clown to lead the cons in the next GE. On the other hand it would give him another couple of years to damage the country.
I think Boris is getting paid by Labour at this point.
To be fair they are odds-on to lose both seats. The Tories keeping one of the two would be an electoral upset.
Of all the things that’ll make him resign, losing two seats he’s actively being projected to lose certainly won’t be it.
The only way hes going will be from intense pressure from the MPs sitting on those green benches behind him. Or a general election loss.
He won’t leave till he’s dragged to the gibbet. Let’s just cut out all that wasted time and do it now.
He has no need to, the conservative MP’s gave him the stay of execution and the power, he can sink them like the Kirsk and they have to just watch and follow
The man is like an oozing, fat white pimple on a ringworm clad buttcheek just screaming out to be squeezed and drained
“Man with no shame or integrity rules out acting with integrity or shame”
Crazy that him doing an absolute shit job in every way possible would mean he should quit. Absolutely crazy for this entitled narcissistic scumbag.
Yeah, what are you nuts? Me quitting? Tchhh
When are the are the byelection results expected?
Boris thinks its a dictatorship.
It’s all about ego, he doesn’t want to be the guy that had to stand down due to a scandal (pick one). What’s more likely is he will choose not to stand in the next election, so bowing out in his terms. Just wish he’d go now.
I’m pretty sure at this stage that he’ll have to be physically dragged from Downing Street at this point
Johnson will leave when he is voted out and only then. A man who sees it as his divine right to be PM and rule over us is not going to give that power up easily, there is no scandal that will force his hand to do so either. Even if voted out, he will still not leave until he has exhausted any possible means of staying on power. I can see security having to prise his fingers off the door frame come the day he has to leave.
The desperation here.
Let me pour cold water on y’all pathetic delusions Boris is going.
The Gov has no onus on protecting any seats in by elections.
The whole oppositions job is to win those seats.
Thatcher famously lost seats when Tory MPs were murdered and Labour / Lib Dems disgustingly ran against Tory candidates.
“Will of the people!”
Gobshite!
(I know it’s not as simple as that – but it should be).
Boris Johnsons fingers will have to be prised out of the cabinet room table before he resigns. No scandal, no crisis, no accusation will prompt him to resign. The only reason he will leave office is if he’s pushed.
