Germany needs a much better communication department. Although I believe they are in fact hostile to Putin their messaging in Poland is confusing to say the list. I wish they communicated more clearly. With the statements that leaves no doubt.
I get that Poles really hate Russians, but are people in Poland really this delusional?
On could argue that Germany has bean one of the more lenient countries in the west when it comes to response to the war in Ukraine, but calling them “friendly towards Putin” is just ridiculous.
not surprised with Poland.
Bit of a silly poll to put as a binary choice
Well, Pis voters need to still keep germanphobia in their backpocket, just in case putins regime collapses.
Cant put all your phobia just on one country. Diversification is important not just when it comes to gas supply.
German official view seems to be swinging so fast this poll is probably useless…
It’s still too friendly tbh
It’s shame, how over two decades of improving relationship between PL and DE disappeared in half a year.
Olaf Scholz lies around military equipment, Angela Merkel ignoring Eastern European fears, Gerhard Shroeder being straight up Gazprom agent in EU.
Add to it crazy anty-European and anty-German government and here we are.
It would be very convenient to blame everything on PIS (polish ruling party), but that’s delusional. You reap what you sow and it will take another decade or two for Germany to regain their trust amongst European allies.
As far as I know Baltic States citizens have very similar view on current German foreign polices. Maybe not as drastic as Poles, but adding them to the list would paint better picture.
Just to clarify: nobody in Poland, except generation that still remembers WW2 (and you can’t really blame them), considers Germans an enemy. General opinion in Poland though thinks about German-Russian relations as at least cordial basically since all Nord-Stream 2 drama, lack of strong answer since beginning of the invasion on Ukraine definitely didn’t help. And though we still hope that in case if Russian would decide to go further West, Germans would be on hour side, right now Germany looks like the country opposing Putin the least.
Compared to Polish sentiments towards Russian/Soviets in general you can definitely say that Germany is somewhat friendly towards Putin.
so where are the results from Lithuania, Ukraine, Finland, Estonia, Romania, Latvia? I would expect similar results to one in Poland
At this point germany will have to roll up to Moscow so that their neighbours(Poland and mainly baltic countries) stop complaining about them being pro russia
Poles are so misguided, it’s sad.
I do consider people saying Germany is friendly with Putin are morons (the question is even stupid shouldn’t there be just Russia not Putin?), but you have to see from the other side how this looks.
Country that is trying to lead Europe, that is bashing Eastern EU members for being xenophobic (rightfully so), that is trying to act as peaceful state, doesn’t have a problem increasing dependency on fossil fuels from Russia after Crimea and War in Donbas. While Poland and Baltic States are trying to lower it. Lithuania is stopping trade with Kaliningrad and who is the first to criticise them? Who is forbidding to send heavy equipment to Ukraine? You can’t really blame PiS propaganda for this image of Germany in Poland because leftwing people and liberal one’s as we can see in the article, also consider those relations to be rather friendly. I think in Baltic States we would get similar results, because everytime there was a German-Russian cooperation we and Balts were always on receiving end of it.
Poles and basesless bigotry and grievance towards Germany entirely disconnected from the facts at hand.
It’s a constant.
Guess I will say I am Dutch when visiting Poland..
It’s definitely not friendly. But definitely not hostile either. Which makes this question stupid. If there was a sliding scale with 0 being friendly and 100 hostile I’d have put Germany under Merkel at 40% with it slowly moving up past 60 since the Ukrainian invasion.
Either this is a very stupid poll or I am stupid and dont understand what was asked. Probably both but I got to live with only one of those problems, bye bye.

Populism in action.
Polish germanophobia is a myth.
