Eh what? Now they’re linking bills to inflation? Doubt their workers wages get the same treatment
Send a letter to their HQ telling them it’s bullshit and cancel your account with them.
Virgin Media doing the exact same, increase bill and 3% per year. Moving mobile company at the moment and pretty sure I saw the same on Vodafone’s site
In my experience, eir can’t find their arsehole with two hands. Dump them and go with anyone else.
My contract with Eir ran out a few months ago and I rang them about it. Long story short, after going to their “loyalty team” I got a 24 month contract (I requested it) for €3 less than I was paying when they started off asking for a €19 increase. A lot of this is posturing and 99% of the time they’ll back down because the vast majority of people won’t call them about it and just accept it
So a fiver now and maybe 12% in April?
Say 50==}55==}62
That’ll be 24% in a year.
Three does the exact same thing. Switched to them in March or April and a month after got a message saying that it’s going up by a 5er, fucking joke.
Vodafone, 3 the same
Best of luck to anyone who tries ringing that number to cancel. It will not be straight forward I have no doubt.
If anyone has emails stating the price hike could you please send them onto me
As mentioned, Virgin broadband went up from last month. 4 euro.
Vodafone, virgin, sky and three. They call it different things but yep annual price adjustments
BT in the UK do exactly this. 12% rise this year
I received this as well. Can they actually do it within a few months of signing the contract? I only joined in April ffs.
Vodafone. Sneaky fuckers
Yip they tried this with me last month. I cancelled with them as Sky are doing 500mb for €35 for the year
You can cancel if they increase there prices.
They did this exact same thing this time last year with me, so I cancelled.
When I asked what the increase was for, I was told “we’re investing in upgrading the network”
I said they should use their own money for that, otherwise they’re not investing in anything.
God I hate Eir.
This is a breach of contract, so they are obligated to let you cancel your contract free of charge.
Edit: just noticed it clearly states that in the message my bad
Eir charge people whatever the fuck they want, I’m currently paying €75 a month for 100mb down as thats the fastest speeds I can get.
Absolute joke. An extra fiver a month and we barely get 1mbps wifi, and won’t have fibre broadband til 2025 or 2026. This country 🤦♂️
We value your loyalty 😂
Talk about admitting there’s no other conceivable reason to stay with them.
How about charging me for the fibre broadband when you bring it to my house?
It’s quite a thing in the UK, but it’s now becoming commonplace here. CPI +3%.
Just read eir reviews on trustpilot etc…says it all 😵💫
I can tell you for a fact, first hand , their employees aren’t seeing any wage increase …
I bought a mobile plan with gomo, which is a company owned by eir, that says my price stays the same for life (or life of the network) the price is €9.99 per month for unlimited calls, text and data but I’m kind of skeptical about this lasting..
They’re all doing it. If you haven’t got a notice yet, there’s one coming.
This is next level shit, they are linking inflation to inflation. Going to be crazy exponential increases in the next couple of years.
Really, just ask them to disconnected your BB and they will start offering you deals to keep your account on a new contract.
“Value your loyalty” by riding you up the hole to the jaws of death… with no lube.
Reminds me of hyper inflation in Venezuela. Shops stopped taking local currency because in the time you went into the shop and took it to the counter the price would have already increased significantly. I guess we are going to get a lesson why high inflation environments like the 80s were so awful.
I quit Eir a few years back. The most difficult cancellation I ever had. They tried everything to keep me on the phone with offers and discounts. Would not listen when I told them I was moving in with my friend who already had wifi that was better. When they finally accepted I wouldn’t they told me I couldn’t cancel over the phone and gave me an email to contact to do it. One that was nowhere on their website that said I had to call to cancel. No mention of an email.
After a couple of back and forth emails and a request from them to call me to discuss it, I finally got them to cancel. They collected the box, and then they charged me an extra month and claimed it was a mistake. They wouldn’t return the money and said I could use it against my next bill if I sign up again. I refused and gave up on getting the money back.
They then tried to charge me claiming I hadn’t returned the box. Sent them a picture with a date and time stamp of the guy picking it up and they finally backed off.
