A Jet2 plane declared an ’emergency’ in mid-air when travelling from Cyprus to Manchester.
The budget airline flight transmitted code 7700 while travelling, indicating a general emergency.
The nature of the incident is not yet clear, however the plane has now safely landed at Manchester Airport.
The aircraft took off from Larnaca Airport in Cyprus at 12.30am. Take off was an hour and a half later than scheduled according to flight tracking service FlightAware.
The plane, flight number EXS85BE, also landed on the runway in Manchester after it was expected to. It hit the tarmac at 3.39am on Tuesday morning, July 14.
In aviation, 7700 is the universal transponder code, or ‘squawk code’, pilots enter into their aircraft to declare an in-flight emergency.
Manchester Evening News have contacted Jet2 for further comment on the incident.
