According to independent electricity supplier Elektrum Lietuva, electricity price growth was mostly affected by a substantial decrease in electricity generation by wind farms.
Although cheaper electricity in the Nordic countries led to greater electricity import to the Baltics, while solar power plants generated more electricity as well, yet this was not enough to offset lower power output by wind farms.
In June 2026, compared with May, electricity imports to the Baltic States increased by 15%. Electricity flow from Finland to Estonia via EstLink power interconnections rose by 7%. Electricity imports from Sweden to Lithuania through the NordBalt power interconnection soared by 41%, electricity import from Poland via the LitPol Link power interconnection rose by 20%.
The Baltic countries in total consumed 1,979 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity in June, by 4% less than in May.
In June, Lithuania consumed by 2% less electricity or 944 GWh in total.
Electricity generation in the Baltics decreased by 13% to a total of 1,639 GWh in June.
Lithuania generated 860 GWh of electricity, by 10% less than in May. Meanwhile, Latvia generated 448 GWh and Estonia 331 GWh.
In June, the Baltic States on aggregate generated 83% of electricity needed for consumption. Local electricity generation in Lithuania satisfied 91% of the country’s electricity consumption demand, compared with 87% in Latvia and 64% in Estonia.
