New Jersey’s highest court has agreed to hear a case from labor and industry groups challenging the state’s environmental justice rules aimed at correcting the history of disproportionate burdens on certain communities.
The New Jersey Chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. and Engineers Labor Employer Cooperative of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 are challenging the definitions, scope, and conditions included in the adopted rules. The state Supreme Court decided on July 9 to take up the petitions, and the orders were filed Tuesday.
