Why does centra think these are acceptable prices

  1. Because so long as people buy them at those prices, they will keep them at those prices, especially when other shops aren’t around the area. Rip off Republic knows how weak willed the Irish are to chicken fillet rolls.

  2. Is that Deliveroo? you do know that Deliveroo take 30% so they increase prices on Deliveroo to account for that. let’s say a product is €10 on deliveroo, centra only get €7 of that so if you want to avoid go into the shop.

  3. Lidl and SuperValu/centra seem to be the worst for sneaky price increases. Don’t get how non perishable goods that have been on the shelves for weeks/months/years have increased in price. Another trick of Centra and SuperValu is bait and switch. My mum always falls for it. They’ll send a leaflet via An Post to her house. 30 x Persil Liquidtabs for €4.50/€5 offer from the 20th-27th June for example. She’ll go in looking for them, but they’ll never have them in stock, they’ll have the smaller product on the shelf for 20 x Persil liquidtabs for €8.

  4. The wedges aren’t actually golden either.

I brought them to Cash4Gold and they weren’t having it

  5. I recently got a roll with lettuce, cheese and stuffing in a Centra and was charged €4. I asked the guy at the deli if that was correct considering there was no meat in it. He said it was. I said it the lady at the tills and she said it was a new thing and agreed it was ridiculous. Safe to say I have stopped going to that shop. Used to go at least 4 times a week.

Another time in a SuperValu I got the same roll. I think it was even more expensive. The guy at the till actually went to the deli to ask them why it was that price. They were charging by weight. Roll was packed with stuffing.

Vote with your feet. Don’t pay over the odds.

  6. Any of us would do the same thing. Product gets a following because of an almost funny internet meme, gets popular then they jack up the price to maximise profit.

If people stopped eating that slop the price would come down.

If you want to blame someone blame the morons who eat that stuff.

  7. Because they’re not the prices. There’s an added top up which is a “convenience” fee to get it delivered to your doorstep.

Why would you think you’d pay the same price for something by going via an intermediary than direct from the shop?
