Always thought they were bred, not caught in the wild.
I eat them sometimes. Mostly for the novelty I guess. I like the taste but there is too little meat on them for it to be really worth it.
I like them a lot! See them on the menu at every meeneemchinees. Not that much at tradition restaurants anymore.
I tried it once, out of curiosity. It wasn’t bad, but indeed, not a lot of meat on them.
According to the guardian’s article : “The craving for frog meat appears highest in Belgium, which takes 70% of the imports, but Pro Wildlife says most of these are then sent on to France, which directly imports 16.7%. The Netherlands takes in 6.4%.”
I tried it once of twice and it was good, but I wouldn’t eat it again. I’d rather buy some chicken or turkey.
Ate them a few weeks ago at Chinese restaurant take-out, they were very good.
Made me wonder tho, what do they do with the rest of the frog?
I always try these when I see them on a menu of a Chinese restaurant. I love it.
Although I once saw a video where Chinese cooks chopped of the legs of living frogs and threw the rest away.
I used to eat it from time to time when visiting me french grandparents. It’s like itty-bitty chicken wings, basically. Nice with a good garlic seasoning. Too much effort for too little meat imo, though.
