POTTSTOWN — A gas leak occurred Thursday near the corner of Beech and Grant streets.
Derek Brown, a PECO senior communications specialist, said a contractor digging in the area near the Ricketts Community Center hit the main and caused the leak at about noon.
The area was made safe at approximately 2 p.m., Brown said. Beech Street was closed in both directions during that time.
The Ricketts Center was checked, and it was determined that it was safe for the center to remain open.
Brown said Thursday night he did not know how many people were affected by the outage. No injuries were reported.
