In the meantime, in [Lake Garda](https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2022/06/07/this-is-africa-two-thousand-strong-mob-sexually-assault-girls-and-cause-havoc-in-italian-lakefront-towns/), Italy…
I guess this must have slipped by most media outlets.

from a legal point of view the situation is clear:
It is a human right to seek asylum.
Malta is constantly denying that human right out of fear that it sets a precedent and more refugees will follow. People also wrongly assume that just because there is good chance that asylum will be denied, people do not have the right to seek it.
And then there is also the racist side: People do not want more black people in Malta and say it is “full up” but then white people can move here (for example refugees from Ukraine).
I’ve been to the Hal Far open centre a couple of times and honestly I would not wish my worst enemy would have to spend a single minute there. It is just horrible.
Overall it is a pretty messed up situation. Malta deserves more support from the rest of EU but also needs to treat humans like humans and tackle the racism issue.
just my 2 cents
Did you honestly just quote this website? Looks like issue isn’t migrants but how Malta aren’t teaching common sense in schools.

Breitbart? Lol. Next up, Queen Elizabeth is a space lizard.
Reported for linking to fascist fake news.
They will shoot down your article for posting a news article from a dubious link. But…. this is legit for sure. [https://www.tgcom24.mediaset.it/cronaca/veneto/molestie-a-16enni-caccia-al-branco-del-lago-di-garda-30-i-sospettati_51082915-202202k.shtml](https://www.tgcom24.mediaset.it/cronaca/veneto/molestie-a-16enni-caccia-al-branco-del-lago-di-garda-30-i-sospettati_51082915-202202k.shtml) This really happened. They cannot say that this is fake news. It really happened but the media’s agenda tries to hide these incidents. On the other hand, they try to promote the idea that refugees are not welcome. But then again who would want to welcome people which might be criminals? Not all refugees are criminals but the bad ones are creating a bad name for the others. As I keep saying: foreigners/refugees that are caught breaking certain laws should be immediately kicked out. Tough luck.
Guys, do not downvote these comments. We are not being racist. OP is not being racist. Get your heads out of the sand and discuss rather than blocking or downvoting things which do not fit your ideals.
Malta should treat refugees better, yes.
Honestly I don’t accept racism but Malta has the right to be picky about who they let in, including refugees in general.
It is a small island and last year it seemed so overcrowded from tourists to people seeking job opportunities, people studying english there etc they are destroying the island to build places so people can live in
It is a literal concrete jungle and small as hell, you have limited space
I found Malta to be very safe and letting random (probably undocumented) people in for the sake of solidarity is not a good idea, I am saying this as an italian.
Italy is huge compared to Malta but cities have become unliveable due to crime and people messing around (see example above but also drug dealing, pickpocketers, organized crime etc)
This is not racist but a reality
Why are you trying to use logic and actual facts? That is racist, the Malta Police force might charge you for hate crimes.
The video in the link k is of light skin people. The Mayor says “waving flags”…. So African men wave flags to assault women??? LOL
OP – just another xenophobic race stirrer. The irony of OP being Maltese and with Miiddle Eastern, if not African genes, trying to discriminate against such people LOL….
lol, like 90% of the crowd are white Italians. If I had to guess, that’s about the same proportion as the country itself. But what do I know? I only live about 100 km from Italy.
Living in Malta, I would say it’s a mixed bag. Some people behave decently, others do not. I will say that I’ve never heard workers spoken to in the way Maltese contractors berate their refugee workers. Just because someone arrived in Malta, or anywhere else, from a desperate situation, does not give anyone the right to publically humiliate you.
Since I’m guessing you don’t live here and have never been here, suffice to say there isn’t any privacy in this crowded island nation. You scream at your worker in the street, dozens may witness that during the busier times of the day.
On the other hand, the Maltese would never do something so inhumane as to deny healthcare and education to people simply because they didn’t come from here. Of course, around here, people don’t hypocritically call themselves the land of the free, home of the brave, pride themselves on a nation built of immigrants, and then revert to clownish, transparent xenophobia.
Maltese racism is homogenous, honest, and old-school, and lacks the abject hypocrisy of the American brand.
