It’s great to see Mick Lynch calling out the media’s anti-union bullshit

  1. I think I’ll link to this every time I hear that the rail workers are “holding the country to ransom”. Great article. Nice to see the other side of this story for a change.

  2. One of the benefits of Brexit was supposed to be increased bargaining power for workers, but the moment they start exercising those rights the Govt. and Media hammer them into the ground.

Funny, that; who could have seen it coming…

  3. (I’m not conflating the two, but) I wonder if XR would have better PR if they had someone like Lynch doing their media rounds.

  4. Lynch is great. Completely blunt, to the point and no nonsense, calls out the misinformation/slurs/allegations thrown his way in a very entertaining manner.

If you listen to one of his recent LBC appearances, a listener calls in specifically to say he individually changed their mind on the strikes.

  5. Did notice most msm have gone into full government propaganda mode when flicking through various news channels. BBC have been making a great effort to find and interview all the scabs on the streets.

  6. The line of questioning the media gives those who are Labour MPs, Academics, Activists and trade unionists is disgusting. The way they try create a suspicion that union strikes are like those of the 1980s, 40 years ago and always try to bring them back to that time, is outdated, lazy journalism.

The govt and their media cronies are keeping us stuck the country stuck in the 1980s.

  7. I think pretty much everyone, regardless of how deep the brainwashing has been is watching these interviews and thinking ‘oh right, that’s what a real person is, not like these fucking weirdos in politics’.

I hope the strikes go on and we just get to see more. Sorry to all those struggling to get to rock concerts and exams.

  8. I think she was trying to egg him on to say something like “are you trying to imply we’re going to get violent?” and she’d then spout some nonsense about him being first to mention violence and how that’s worrying his mind would go there.

    glad he stood his ground.

  9. Every £ or $ they magic up out of nowhere is stealing, just in tiny little increments. It’s been going on for decades and has accelerated in the last 3. Inflation has fuck all to do with you.
The cash in your bank was created and can easily be manipulated by?

Inflation to you the majority, is compound interest to someone else in the very small minority.

    > Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it; he who doesn’t, pays it”. Einstein.

If I was in charge of a world and civilisations, the number 1 rule would be psychopaths and mad narcissists are forbidden from public service. Psychologists would have to evaluate candidates prior to election consideration (because a lot of people vote for charming narcissists, who, as history proves are detrimental to everything).

  10. It’s great to see him treating the media the way more people should–acting like a normal person, pointing out when their questions are stupid, giving entirely reasonable responses and letting the journalists get all flustered and make themselves look incompetent.

The Richard Madeley one was the funniest. He asks Mick if he’s a Marxist, Mick says “no”, and Madeley immediately crumbles and turns into Alan Partridge. He obviously did not prepare for the possiblity that he might just not actually be a Marxist.

Or the Kay Burley one where she tries to trick him into saying that the strike could turn violent while he’s standing in front of an obviously nonviolent picket line.

  11. The straight talking from Mick Lynch is quite refreshing and you wouldn’t like to get in a bust up with him. Whatever your view of the strike he’s there to protect his members and he seems to be doing a good job at that.

  12. Honestly, if there’s a general strike this year, I think he’s the guy I want leading it. Articulate and not putting up with any government or media bs.

  13. I wonder if there are any stats on how often union leaders get interviewed in the news and the level of hostility they face?

When it comes to business and the economy the representatives of the workers should be given pride of place. At least equal to senior members of corporations and certainly well ahead of think tanks.

  14. Shame the other unions are spineless. They should have all been out in support and be calling for a general strike if things don’t change.

  15. It’s so refreshing to see Mick Lynch tearing the likes of Piers Morgan and Kay Burley apart on air. He does it so nonchalantly as well, he’s a smiling assassin. The absolute waffle coming out of the MSM in reply is Fox News worthy.

  16. The British media for the past 2 years has been an especially smelly ocean of shit. Mick Lynch is the freshest thing to ever appear on it. He knew exactly what Fiona Bruce was trying to bait him into and he finessed her beautifully.

  17. At least we’re only striking for better wages. One day we’ll be striking rich heads off shoulders. This generation will change capitalism forever. With rising temperatures and falling water supplies
plus a war in Europe, something is going to snap soon.
