I remember going to Fine Fayre once a month with my parents and there was an in-store bakery (rare in the 80’s) and I’d always choose one of the giant crusty rolls. It was the first time I’d ever seen lunch tongue and I loved the jelly bits, so once a year I treat myself to a pack.
My husband shudders just looking at the label so I get to eat the lot.
Also: *”This is GOOD”* is out of date Christmas chutney from a hamper. It’s still very tasty with no furry mould.

Urgh, can’t stand tongue, and my ma used to try and shovel it down use when wee were kids. Gimme a nice bit of haslet instead, maybe some HP Fruity on top.

I’d slar reggae reggae over tongue, I usually shovel piccalilli on top and eat it without rolls or bread, just on its own.
Piccalilli and a bag of salt and vinegar crisps on the side for me.
I never eat tongue. It’s been in somebody else’s mouth, you know?
