If you live in Germany, Switzerland or Austria and are (like many others) fed up with the church [heres a website](https://www.kirchenaustritt.de/) with all the necessary information to leave.
This hits the church where it hurts them the most (their bank accounts) and you end up saving money.
Info: in Germany, church is not funded by the state, so if you are a member of the church, you must pay a special tax on your salary called church tax, and this is then transferred to the appropriate religious institution
Fuck yes, churches, mosques and other organized religious temples have no place in modern society. You can organize life by a religious moral ethical framework without it being oriented around the whims of corrupt and pedophile infested organizations, Saudi money or other bad faith (pardon the pun) actors.
Doesn’t mean people don’t believe in something, they just do not need a senile old fuck brainwashing them into useless culture wars.
Great news.
Germany still has a disturbing amount of religious influence behind the scenes. Maybe they’re mostly not radicals who want to do crazy things like picket abortion centres, but that doesn’t stop them leveraging influence and being focus points for nepotism.
Since the church and religion are becoming less and less relevant, I wonder if we’re ever gonna stop storing dead people in the middle of cities, all that space could be used for anything else
Noone wants to get associated with kiddy-fiddlers, rapists, and misogynists. No surprises there.
But believe it or not, some of those leaving complain about the churches being “too woke”. Wth…
A wise move
IIRC about 30% of those leaving the Catholic church state that one of the reasons for leaving is that “the church has become too much in tune with the zeitgeist”. It’s even more than 30% of those leaving the Protestant church.
A state shouldn’t force you to pay taxes for the church. It’s stupid
Not trying to be edgy, but religion to any young person just sounds insane in ways it did not even 30 years ago. I think the internet killed religion.
“There is no longer anything we can take for granted as the Catholic Church. We have to explain ourselves anew, explain what we do and why we do it.”
I don’t know why religious people always think that non-religious people don’t **understand** religion. Non-religious people understand religion just fine. They just don’t want to have anything to do with it.
Even my mother who is really religious left the church. You don’t have to pay them money to prove your faith. I left them 10 years ago, fuck them
Honestly can’t happen too quickly religion is societal poison
God, I love Germany. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Christian people. But less religion is always better than more.

And still not enough!!!
As a practicing Catholic, that’s fine. [Pope Benedict XVI predicted](https://aleteia.org/2016/06/13/when-cardinal-joseph-ratzinger-predicted-the-future-of-the-church/amp/) that the Church would be smaller and purer in the future. It’s better that anyone who doesn’t truly believe leaves.
