Family identifies man found dead in Switzerland County shooting
GOSPORT, Ind. —
A man who was killed in a shooting last week in southeast Indiana has been identified by his family.
The loved ones of 48-year-old Jeremy Wilson tell WLWT that he was the man who was found dead by police in rural Switzerland County last Saturday.
Wilson’s family spoke with WLWT on Friday, who called his death tragic, sudden, and senseless.
This comes as officers with the Indiana State Police responded just before 9 p.m. on Saturday to the 11000 block of Bryants Creek Road after receiving a report about a shooting there.
Upon arrival, officers say they located a man who had already died at the scene after sustaining a gunshot wound. He was officially pronounced dead by the Switzerland County Coroner’s Office a short time later.
WLWT confirmed on Friday with the Switzerland County Jail that an arrest had recently been made in connection with his death. However, the jail did not say who the suspect is or what charges they may be facing.
A GoFundMe has since been set up for the Wilson’s family, which can be accessed here.
Wilson’s family also shared multiple photos of him with WLWT on Friday, calling him a beloved father of four.
