  1. Outside of viking Dublin was the only spot known for worshipping a Norse God.

The Grotto of Thor was on the outskirts of Dublin, it was a sacred woodlands that was used for rituals towards the Norse god Thor, there was a monument inside of the forest but unfortunately when the Vikings left Ireland the Celts destroyed the Forest to build boats and houses.
it is hypothesized that the site where it is located is now a housing estate.

Loads more information but I’ll be honest I’m tired and am not arsed to explain lol but if you pop onto Google you will find some cool info about it.

    The Grotto of Thor.

  2. Did they take this with a satellite or from an airplane? I thought colour photography was developed later. Sure every day’s a school day

  3. If anyone’s confused by the perspective of this as I was, the water up at the top is the Liffey rather than the sea – twas a fair bit wider in those days. That’s the Poddle running around the side.

  4. An Dubh Linn. The pool of blackness.

I saw a post on TIL recently insinuating that the name came from its prominence in the slave trade and that so many Africans were trafficked through it.
