It’s ironic that even today the government were saying that labour wanted to ‘drag us back to the 70s’, when that is exactly what this government has already done.
Rampant inflation, stagnant growth, wide spread strikes – we’re already back in the 70s and it’s the Tories that brought us here!
Hopefully. Tories have brought the country to its knees it’s about time we return the favour.
They’ve pissed on us and told us it’s raining long enough told us if we wait long enough it will trickle down and we will all benefit.
Well we aren’t feeling any benefits we’ve got more billionaires now than we had before the pandemic but it’s our pay rises that are the problem not these pricks with their fucking yachts and multi million quid property portfolios.
With their multi million pound bonuses for fucking over the working class and paying as little as is possible to extract the most profit.
Not just the public sector, unionised private sector workers should also consider going on strike.
Some great action been taken against the refusal to pay decent wages since brexit meant no more cheap desperate immigrant labour to exploit.
The Tories certainly hope so. Then they can crank up the slogans like that Saatchi & Saatchi classic “Labour isn’t working.” They have started their election campaign in earnest and selling every Employee down the river – with all the racist baggage that phrase entails – is not beyond them. They can rattle on about Labour being in the pocket of the Unions and Union Barons – although the Baron of Siberia might put a bit of a damper on that *particular* word.
National Strike!
The entire working population should strike. Rome style.
Just go sit on a hill near each city and have some snacks.
I hope so! Since covid I’ve been following “The great resignation” and even the “Antiwork” subreddit and people are fed up. Strikes look to be the only way of getting our Government to listen.
Why only public sector? All employees are exposed.
Solidarity!
I hope we see general strikes. Bring the whole place to a standstill.
The hospitality sector needs to unionise. Baristas I know are getting their rotas on Wednesday – for the coming Monday! How’re you supposed to plan your life.
Starbucks are unionising in the USA.
Summer of Discontent.
I hope so. I think it’s the only way the public sector will get a genuine, appropriate pay adjustment
I fucking hope so.
We march to the gates of 2022 and appropriate wages, and when we get there we’re kicking the fucking thing down!
I hope so. And I hope it all leads to us voting for a different government next time.
In any public sector strike action, the NHS and its amazing staff get put through the mill. They cannot just abandon their jobs and go on strike, as patients will die otherwise. Trusting agency workers to fill in for them with almost no experience of the sites/training/rules is also unwise and perhaps even unethical.
Same goes for Emergency Services.
Well the basic answer in No. Prison service uniformed staff are not allowed by law to strike.
Everyone should strike and protest.
We have all had enough. We all know the system is broken and rigged against us.
Why is it always we, the public, picking up the costs in financial crisis but never reap the rewards when the going is good?
Why do we never get dividends on our collective forced investments?
Put some of the strain on the profit chasing corporations. Make them reduce their huge net profits.
General strike please
As someone in the private sector, I say go for it lads. People need to stand up and refuse this treatment.
