I find it surprising that the city was somehow managing the price of beer. Was there some beer tax? Were they producing the beer themselves?

If they did this today they’d be charged with ‘insurrection’, it’s weird how folks cheer people doing this 80 years ago, yet would be baying for their blood if they dared do it now.
Been saying it for a while. Once people have caught up on all they missed during corona the prices will keep people away and shit will get worse for retail again.

Man, some great memories of that place! Living inside for about a week was an amazing experience.
