The parents of that guy relocated and lived a couple of houses from us. Really tragic story of bad luck.
This makes me wonder about what if the intercepting jets were West-German, should they have shot it down above West-Germany instead of allowing it to enter Belgian territory despite it possibly crashing in a less densely populated area there.

Kind of remember when it happend, but I think it was later during the day that the plane crashed… noon or begin of the afternoon.
