How does Germany feel about those eastern territories lost to Poland?
Why not both?
Given the history, some polite distance would be wise.
Poland wants a partner. Not a teacher, not a rescuer, not an example to follow. A reliable neighbour you can talk to even if you disagree with them.
So far for a last 30 years Germany acted like it is a Paragon-of-virtue_Know-it-all_Better_than_you … something … I don’t even know how to really name it. But the superiority complex mixed with some sort undefined mission was felt here for a long time.
Nothing will change in our relations unless you stop seeing yourself as superior to us.
And Olaf won’t be someone who can change it. He is a classic Western European Social Democrate of his generation. Full of prejuduce toward Eastern Europeans and love for Russia which he now tries to deny as hard as he can.

There is shit tone of things that needs to change in CEE. But if the EU is to trive, Western guys need to get of the high horse as well.
