Johnson hints that new coal mine for Cumbria will get go-ahead

  1. On paper this seems to be a sensible idea I think? We would be using coal anyway, which happened to be imported from Russia. Instead we could be using our own, which helps create jobs here and has the benefit of not helping fund Russia’s military.

  2. This is a good idea because (after Imperial measures are brought back) we will need 250,000 Imperial tons of extra coal for the re-introduction of steam locomotives.

I understand that motorway service stations will also need to upgrade soon to add in recharging stations… for horses. Growing and shipping the hay around the country will add extra jobs for the peasants (formerly the middle class).

  3. This coal for steel production not energy…

It’ll be greener to dig it up here than strip mine in Russia or Australia then ship it across the world.

Virgin steel needs coal. you can’t really get around it.

  4. Is everyone aware that the boss of West Cumbria Mining is advising the government on the possible Geological Disposal Facility for nuclear waste storage overlapping the same area as the proposed coal mine? Coincidence? I think not! I wonder why this hasn’t been mentioned in this report? Talk about bringing a nuclear dump in through the back door!

  5. Imagine if Thatcher etc didn’t close all the pits, I wonder how we all would be now? Loads of jobs, actually making things we need instead of importing them. Could even sell the coal, especially since Russia can’t trade right now.
