On this day 501 years ago Wallachian merchant Lupu Neacșu of Câmpulung sent a letter to the mayor of Brașov Johannes Benkner warning him of an Ottoman attack. Neacșu’s letter is the oldest surviving document available in Old Romanian that can be reliably dated.
