Former Prince Andrew is expected to give evidence next week in the trial of a man accused of threatening him. Alex Jenkinson was charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior to harass someone or cause alarm or distress—one of which is understood to relate to Andrew. Jenkinson has pleaded not guilty and will stand trial on July 29.
The incident first came to light when the Daily Telegraph newspaper reported that Andrew was threatened while out walking his dogs near his new home in the Sandringham Estate in May. He was said to be with his private security detail. The newspaper also reported that the former Prince was “left shaken” and that friends said it highlighted the ingoing issue of his security.
Alex Jenkinson was charged and appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court via video link the following day, May 8, where he pleaded not guilty. Per the BBC, at that hearing a request for Andrew to give evidence at the trial, set for July 29, via video link was granted.
The former Prince, 66, now lives at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate after being stripped of all his titles and honors last year. He was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office, an accusation that Thames Valley Police continues to investigate.
Andrew was last seen publicly with the royal family in September 2025 when he attended the funeral of the Duchess of Kent at Westminster Cathedral. One month later, his accuser Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir was published. The former Prince has always denied any wrongdoing.
