The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghan refugees in Iran are among the most vulnerable groups affected by the renewed hostilities between the United States and Iran, the U.N. special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan said Saturday.
Richard Bennett said in a post on X that he had joined a statement condemning the resumption of U.S.-Iran hostilities, warning that Afghan refugees in Iran often remain “invisible” despite facing heightened risks.
“Afghan refugees in Iran are among the most vulnerable groups and often remain invisible,” Bennett wrote.
He also condemned Iran’s continued use of the death penalty, saying the execution of Afghan nationals by Iranian authorities was “deplorable.”
Bennett did not elaborate on the joint statement or provide further details in his post.
