“We can’t as a country say we want to help people upskill and reskill and then place a government levy on the cost of going to further education”
They’ve had no problem doing it for the last 10 years anyway, pretty sure it last went up in 2011

Anything for postgrads?
Does this include apprenticeships or just college ?
Maybe we should be incentivising people to go into trades instead.

Where does the university’s shortfall come from?
Strikes me as another attempt to clamour for young votes but still good news if it actually happens.
We shouldn’t fall into the pitfalls of Americans that moan at the concept of college being cheaper for future students than it was for us.
They’ve cracked it, the student vote has returned!
Considering that other EU countries that are less wealthy than we are PAY student to go to university, this is definitely a step in the right direction. It’s kind of shameful students have to pay for university here. At the end of the day, that’s just added tax revenue in 10 years time so it’s a worth while public investment.
I really hope this will be replaced with a sizable increase in direct funding for universities; otherwise it’ll only have the effect of reducing the opportunities of local students to access university.
Just after next year’s fee is due, nice…
Very fucking frustrating for anyone who had it introduced at school leaving age.
