I don’t know how I feel with even more US presence in Europe. I wish Europe could take care of it’s own defense but alas
Probably Champaign is being opened by Polish politicians.
>Biden also revealed that the US would maintain an additional rotational brigade in Romania, enhance rotational deployments in the Baltic region, deploy two squadrons of F-35 aircraft to the UK, station additional air defence in Germany and Italy, and seek to increase the number of destroyers stationed in Spain.
Cold War II time.
Can we get one in Lithuania, too? Or two. I’ll take two, please.
Except, Scholz opposes moving troops to NATO’s east flank. They want to build some useless utility warehousese instead. Not to mention him laughing and smirking at the journalist asking about safety guarantees for Ukraine at the G7 summit.
> According to the report, the plan includes reinforcement of “forward presence” in Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Poland with additional brigades of 3,000 to 5,000 people each. Since permanent deployment of such units is costly, and the lead NATO contingents – German (in Lithuania), British (in Estonia) and Canadian (in Latvia) – also face problems because of lack of combat ready and equipped army brigades, Scholz made a compromise proposal.
> Therefore, only a small part of the new brigades will be deployed at their locations, including some staff elements, communications and technical maintenance forces, as well as fuel and ammo depots. Meanwhile, the majority of servicemen will remain in their home countries.
One day, there won’t be a need for US troops in Europe, and it will be a glorious day.
Ahh this post mentions US military in Europe? Let the America bad comments from Western Europeans commence!
Thanks Russia
Well I’m sure Putin can consider this special operation a success on the menu
1. New us base on Belarus border
2. New and rich Nato members on Russia’s borders
3. Two new EU candidate nations, so far
Not to mention the casualties and the long term economic damage
But why should we care after this invasion? Russia has violated this treaty extremely.
Russia: Let’s attack a country to ensure neutrality and NATO bad!
Result:
Two new, even closer NATO-neighbors and even more military presence closer than ever before…
I’ll never understand why the fk the US does this when we are an ocean away and literally Germany is right next to Poland. Europe has 100m+ more people than the US like wtf. It seriously irritates me how Americans care more for European security than Europeans. These old politicians need to just die so that the post-cold war generation can move on. I absolutely loath foreign US military bases….we literally have like 800 for fk sakes

A *permanent* base in East Europe is a violation of the [NATO-Russia-Founding Act](https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/official_texts_25468.htm?selectedLocale=en).
