A Hamas tunnel network in northern Gaza was discovered and destroyed by the IDF‘s Northern Gaza Brigade and Yahalom Unit, the military said on Monday.
The tunnel network was located east of the Yellow Line in an area under the control of the IDF, the military noted.
An additional tunnel route spanning several hundred meters was also destroyed, the IDF added.
The tunnel network’s destruction follows a joint IDF and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) strike on Sunday, which killed the head of Hamas’s internal security in central Gaza, the military said earlier on Monday.
The terrorist, Wael Musa Khaled Ladawi, commanded the Hamas agency as it collected intelligence for the planning and execution of terror activities, the military added.
The strike came on the same day the Security Cabinet approved the entry of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) into Gaza as part of US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan.
The ISF is set to launch a pilot program in southern Gaza’s Rafah focused on reconstruction.
Also on Sunday, the Cabinet granted immunity to the ISF and launched the Board of Peace’s (BoP) pilot phase for the restoration of basic services and humanitarian assistance and shelters in Gaza, specifically in areas outside of Hamas’s control.
