  1. The Record helpfully provide a transcript of the discussion between Philp (CP) and Lynch (ML):

CP: “Mick Lynch has previously said he would not negotiate with the Tory government.”

    ML: “That’s a lie, that’s a direct lie.”

CP : “The head of the rail delivery group this morning…”

    ML : “You’re lying.”

CP: “On the Today programme said he didn’t want the government the negotiation. We’ve made money available to the railway industry. It’s up to the employers to negotiate with the trade unions and what happened this afternoon was halfway through these negotiations while they were ongoing…”

    ML : “That’s a lie.”

CP : “Unions came out onto the street…”

    ML : “That’s a lie.”

CP : “And gave an impromptu press conference.”

ML : “That is a lie. Direct lie. That is a direct lie. That is a lie. He’s lying.”

ML: “I’ve met every Tory transport minister in the last year, bus, rail, maritime and the Secretary of State.

[Kirsty Wark intervenes with a question]

ML: “We’ve never said we won’t meet the Tories. What we said was that they’re not at the table to negotiate with the employers. You’ve also lied that we left negotiations on Saturday and went to a rally. There were no negotiations scheduled for Saturday.

    ML: “You are a liar.”

CP : “There’s a video of him walking out this afternoon giving a press conference, it’s on videotape.”

ML : “And then we went back to talks. You’re lying.”

CP : “Having said the strikes would go ahead.”

ML : “You are a liar.”

CP : “You said the strikes were going to go ahead.”

    ML : “And you’re a liar.”

    CP : “It’s on video.”

ML : “You’re a liar. We were back at the talks this afternoon. We’ve just left them. And your network rail managers delivered statutary redundancy notices to us.”

    As [Nazir Azfal puts it](https://twitter.com/nazirafzal/status/1539116568336117761):

    > The only response to members of this Govt lying is to call it what it is
Respond with facts & they will carry on lying.

    > Only when there are legal or electoral consequences, will the truth prevail.

    Some replies to that:

    – [I watched the interview with Mick Lynch yesterday when the talks were going on. He clearly stated they were in the middle of the talks and he would be going back in after the interview. @CPhilpOfficial knows this.](https://twitter.com/CaptainJohnMD/status/1539158303695151104)

    – [Why didn’t the interviewer pick up on the accusations? The evidence is there what more could she want.](https://twitter.com/lowthion/status/1539138527442911232)

    – [ Can he be interviewed at same time as Johnson please?](https://twitter.com/nicholas_crame/status/1539162553942679552)

    – [Pretty irresponsible of the presenter not to get to the actual facts once the accusation of lying had been made (instead of just cutting him off).](https://twitter.com/GBennettEsq/status/1539142979721605120)

    – [This is what we need. Calling the lies out. Facts given. Why aren’t the actual journalists doing this.](https://twitter.com/OneIsAmused/status/1539148939068309504)

    – [ So bloody refreshing to see. Every Tory interview usually goes unchallenged on specific and glaringly incorrect facts and no one seems to call out strongly untruths. For Lynch to keep saying Liar really made sure viewers were in no doubt of the actual facts. 1st class](https://twitter.com/JessJoyce4/status/1539123285346099200)

    – [Misinformation at this level is misconduct in public office.](https://twitter.com/non_ukgb/status/1539118861181755395)

  2. Yet the interviewer never picked up on it. Never investigated. Never did anything worth a damn.

To these cunts lying comes easier than breathing and they are so used to getting away with it that they can do it on air exactly because they won’t get called out on it by the media.

  3. Mick Lynch dismantling every melt in gov/media in a way many Labour MP’s cannot reinforces my view talented people in this country do not go into parliamentary politics anymore. They are, however, in our workplaces, the labour movement, and must be at the forefront of social change!

  4. Some berk on Twitter was trying to spread a rumour that Lynch earns a £124k salary. Then RMT tweeted to correct them that he actually earns £84k. Even if he did earn £124k – I love that for him. He should get a good salary as the leader of a national organisation.

  5. Transport for Wales aren’t on strike because the unions have reached a deal with the Welsh Government (unfortunately they can’t run trains on most lines as there’s nothing the Welsh Government can do about the Network Rail dispute), the unions aren’t the problem here.

  6. Mick Lynch has been an absolute joy to watch the last couple of days.

Rinsed multiple Tory MPs live on air and swatted away the usual headline seeking line of questioning from the usual TV journo/host suspects.

Guaranteed the right wing rags have all got their private investigators who are on retainers digging as deep as they can for the slightest whiff of dirt on him. Expect a story about how he stood up a date when he was 17 in tomorrow’s Daily Mail.

  7. Sake man, you don’t even need a Body Language expert to know he’s lying!

Question? Why are the media in on this? Not one source has called out the bullshit the Government is clearly pedalling?

  8. I worked for the railways til the cuts killed my job, Mick Lynch is a absolute LEGEND. Fuck the Tories.

  9. These thugs try to extort more money every single year

They are literal yobs in suits and the RMT should be outright banned.

Mick Lynch and the RMT are everything that is wrong with Britain today.

  10. Liar doesn’t like being called a liar whilst being caught telling lies. It’s almost as if the media have never challenged them when they get caught lying and when someone does they get upset because they’re not used to it. Go home and cry Tory cunt.

  11. Literally cannot find the video on that hellscape of a website. Anyone got a link? Thanks to below poster for the transcript, I love Mick Lynch
