Landlordism is part of the dark history of Ireland. It helped the famine and it was used to essentially create modern day serfdom.
We’re now seeing similar situations today where land owners use the necessity of having a home to live, as a means to take any money they can from workers.
Even before the cost of living we have a situation of working poverty. Where people work full time but are still struggling.

Don’t see sense in the argument of rental profit should cover the tax and mortgage repayments. In that case landlord is literally getting the tenant to pay for the house simply because the landlord can obtain credit from a bank.
Landlords are exiting the market at increasing rates. This puts even more pressure on the market and increases homelessness as the houses are occupied by less people when sold.
Landlords have little to no rights. If a Tennant decides to overstay it can take a year to get them out meanwhile they typically receive no rent during this time and even if they win and get the Tennant evicted they will never recover the rent.
The fact that people are happy to lose small landlords hows they have little understanding of the current market.
Why anyone would want to become one is beyond me.
What are Sinn Féin’s proposed policies anyone?
They make a very strong argument to vote SF.
Would be OK with a tenants register, a lot of the bullshit landlords use to justify their price gouging and theft of deposits exists because a shitload of people do absolutely fuck up places they rent.
