The black bear was seen lying in the tree between two homes on Driftwood Place, with its chest huffing with each breath and its tongue sticking out, according to a series of photos shared by Boulder Twin Lakes Inn general manager Nyla Prasad.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife and animal control personnel watched the bear as it rested in the tree around 11:45 a.m., Prasad said in a phone call, after leaving work and driving around the block to find the bear.
The officials asked Prasad to stay back after she got too close, she told the Daily Camera.
The bear was seen with its tongue out while lying on its belly, its side and while looking down at the people below, according to Prasad’s photos.
Parks and Wildlife spokesperson Kara Van Hoose wrote in a text that she wasn’t aware of any crews responding to the bear, but she added that crews often let bears stay in trees because they usually come down on their own.
