The Treasury Minister says government’s considering an employer-sponsored immigration route for highly skilled and in-demand workers.
Chris Thomas was asked in a Tynwald question for written reply from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse whether there were any plans for one.
Mr Thomas said any future scheme would need to strike a balance between supporting employers to recruit skills needed by the Island, and maintaining safeguards and oversight.
He added such a programme would also aim to reduce unnecessary administrative burdens on sponsoring companies.
