Why do people like this go to comedy shows…
What’s the reasoning here?
Well at least he got some good publicity out of it.
This can’t be real life.

Should be charged with wasting police time…
Does anybody have the joke?
I’m not really a fan of Lycett’s comedy but no comedian should be having the police called on them for a joke. Offence is so subjective and personal that it is impossible to subjectively police.
The audience member should be charged for wasting police time.
Joe’s going to fucking relish every second of this.
By ”Investigated”, do they mean ”Somebody reported it so we had to log an incident like we do for most phone calls to us”?
I understand he wants us to buy a ticket to his show and all…
But my god does it wind me up when they run articles about people having averse reactions to a joke without telling us the joke.
Wait until this person hears of Jimmy Carr
Why does it seem that there are people who think calling the police is the correct course of action after being offended.
Remember, we live in a country where making jokes on the internet, even in private, can get you sent to prison if somebody is offended by it. The police shouldn’t even have a duty to investigate, this farcical “joke-crime” phase needs to stop.
So….what was the joke? That’s my main question.
What was the joke about
It’s almost like Rowan Atkinson was right…
He said the matter has been dropped. But people go to jail for this shit now if the joke is deemed grossly offensive or some other subjective nonsense.
You can go to jail for saying words.
Lol I doubt it was “investigated”.
Police won’t investigate real crimes let alone bs like this.
Is “an incident was logged” the same as “being investigated”?
Can’t wait to hear his next letter on cats does countdown.
Win-Win for Joe. He can just use this as material LOL.
Man, I read that whole fucking article and this whole comment thread, and nowhere does it say what the flipping joke was. Total waste of my time!
I hope the audience member is recovering okay after a severe case of offence.
I was offended once, naturally I contacted 999 but they said there was nothing they could do.
For God sake let’s not go down the American route of calling the police at the drop of a hat
Oh for gawds sake get a life. The whole world is in tatters and this idiot complains about something so silly. Grow up.
The police didn’t show up when my catalytic converter got pinched, but now I know why, they’re investigating the heinous crime of comedians making a joke
> The star said this involved him writing a statement to explain the context of his on-stage joke to officers
God how fucking sad. Good job we keep being gas lit into thinking that restrictions on free speech is not a slippery slope. A comedian should have to justify their jokes to the state.
