Mick Lynch clashes with Kay Burley in TV strike interview as RMT union boss says: ‘Your questions are verging on nonsense’

  1. Unbelievably, Burley tweeted [a video](https://video.twimg.com/amplify_video/1539166148239011840/vid/1280×720/RUooKS5McAjdGtDL.mp4) of this herself [claiming that Lynch was ‘flustered’](https://twitter.com/KayBurley/status/1539166310227116034).

The vast majority of replies she got were unconvinced. Here’s a sample:

    – [No Kay, you are so much better than this.](https://twitter.com/brucediesel/status/1539229752816435200)
    – [ The RMT and Mick Lynch are not the baddies here, Kay, and very very many of us support them.](https://twitter.com/ChubbMary/status/1539244426282864641)
    – [No Kay. He answered You. He repeatedly said they will “ask them not to go to work”. He didn’t look flustered. Your guilty grin made you look the the naughty kid in school that’s been caught red handed trying with the paint pots.](https://twitter.com/josboCDF17/status/1539223243004989442)
    – [😂I’m sorry Kay but he really didn’t. This was a train crash (pardon the pun). You went down a very silly track and you realised it half way through the interview. You got tetchy, you got personal and you got ruffled. Not one of your best interviews](https://twitter.com/MimiJ9/status/1539183710263820289)
    – [It seemed as tho she was within a hair’s width of asking if they would resort to the physical and he wasn’t falling for it. He wasn’t the one who got defensive.](https://twitter.com/Xgtnieceoffree1/status/1539198931124494337)
    – [No Kay… You were clearly insinuating that agency workers would somehow face intimidation from picket lines! Mr Lynch kept his cool and you [ended] up looking ridiculous.](https://twitter.com/LydgSquidge/status/1539215013440901120)
    – [No Kay. That’s not at all what happened. You were alluding to picket line violence, and he wasn’t having any of your nonsense. Fantastic self own. Well done!](https://twitter.com/bwlshanh/status/1539184971314765824)
    – [He wasn’t flustered at all. I’ve watched the clip. You were the one who was flustered.](https://twitter.com/RealSueKelly/status/1539195807823499264)
    – [Nowhere, in that interview – absolutely, nowhere – did Mick Lynch say, ‘Agency rail workers will be stopped at picket lines…’ …and Mick Lynch was not the person who ‘…got a little flustered…’](https://twitter.com/Eesy20/status/1539177297114169345)
    – [No Kay you’re the one that got flustered cos he was on to you ..](https://twitter.com/MMaureen01/status/1539184336137867264)
    – [Only one person getting flustered here and it certainly wasn’t Mick Lynch](https://twitter.com/MarkReeve85/status/1539244411011342337)
    – [No Kay you were very much the one who was flustered. He remained very calm and he answered your increasingly inane questions. It was obvious that you were trying to get him to have a go at you and weren’t happy that he wasn’t rising to your bait. Very disappointed in you.](https://twitter.com/fedupofSuffolk/status/1539231128074207232)

    etc. (really, many more.)

  2. He is a Marxist twat who’d drown his own Nan to play class war, all whilst sucking down a six figure salary.

Burley is an unwatchable egomaniac, who doesn’t have the interview skills to ‘gotcha’ a dead dog.

  3. Petty, but I cancelled my NowTV subscription after seeing this.

I needed an excuse, however don’t want to be putting my money into organisations that put the working class down at every opportunity.

Hope streaming platforms break sky and responsible journalism comes back again – because I would pay for that.

  4. He should had been a politician. Not seen him before but I can’t describe how refreshing it is to see an interview where the other person actually thoughtfully and thoroughly answers the questions instead of blustering their way through and deflecting. Just straight talking, difference is night and day.

And jesus I don’t watch television but have heard enough about GMB… people aren’t wrong are they, what a shit show just from the couple YT clips I was repulsed by their anchors

  5. Anyone rememebr Urs Meir?

He was the ref who got death threats after disallowing a goal for England Against Portugal. He was apparently an all round nice guy and even made his E-mail public to get feedback from the public.

Kay Burley encouraged the public to contact him and make their feelings known.

So one of the people in the Mick Lynch interview has encouraged violence against innocent people on TV but it isn’t Lynch.

(He’s still a thundercunt trying to extort money from the taxpayer though)

  6. Can’t wait to see her try and goad a tory minister into saying they’ll send police on horse back with batons raised in to break up the strikes. What a prat.

  7. God I wish I had a union rep like Mick Lynch. What a legend.

I will never get tired of Burley repeatedly asking him what picketing is, and Mick just turning around to look behind him in a bemused way.

  8. He called Chris Philip a liar to his face on Newsnight too. Poor Kirsty Wark didn’t know what to do.

I’d never even heard of this guy before this week.

  9. All those daily mail story denigrating protestors, climate activists etc are coming to fruition now, the public have been groomed to hate protest and forget working class solidarity. Rather than hard working under paid people with families they will be portrayed as lazy, obstinate militant activists.

  10. If you thought that was bad you should see Piers Morgan interview with him. The worst line of questioning I’ve ever witnessed

  11. If I was her interviewing him when he said the questions are “verging on nonsense”, I’d have had to do everything in my power to bite my tongue and not retort, “The same can be said of your strike!”
