I just bought this from coop. My flight is tomorrow afternoon. 1 hour flight to home. I will now put this in my hotel room which doesnt have a refrigerator and by tomorrow evening it will stay in my backpack until evening tomorrow when Ill be home. Will it survive?
Also please help me with this controversy that I been reading online on how Brunost is not so healthy. I discovered Brunost 2 weeks ago by my first time in Norway and it blew my mind. I love it and I eat it everyday of my stay here in norway. I know it has alot of sugar. But eating just 2 slices a day should be fine right? And I am gym going person too.
I used to work in a grocery-store, and we used to display brunost in roomtemprature, the manufactures informed us it can hold RT for like 2 weeks
Mine was on my suitcase for around 24h in my last trip and it survive.
You might want it to be in the fridge for awhile before eating it because it will be soft but mine was just fine.
Always bring it back to the States it’ll be fine
It’ll get ‘sweaty’ in the heat but no real problem other than that for a limited period. Most norwegian kids have eaten sweaty brunost from their school lunch pack, still tastes okay.
If you can put it in a cooler bag it could work. But it in the luggage bellow as it is cooler down there. I think it’ll work. Many use it on waffles in the summer and sometimes that means the cheese stays out in the sun for quite some time.
Have you bought the Norwegian cheese knife ? It is a must.
Low 20s?. Sure. 30s? Maybe.
I have brought brunost with me to the philippines and it started “sweating” rather quickly in room temperature (30ish degrees) after it was opened at least.
I think it will be fine as long as you dont leave it in the sun.
Just cool it down again when you arrive, and you’ll be fine.
right out of the fridge wrap it in layers of paper and then in aluminium foil.
Yes
I’ve travelled with brunost from Oslo to Calgary w several flight transfers, it’ll be fine.
Yup. Months even
Brunost!!!!!
sometimes had it for lunch on bread in school. sometimes i then didnt eat it at school. but it was still edible once i got home.
however, cold brunost tastes best, so keep it cool once you arrive home. good luck!
Worst case scenario you got yourself some prim instead
I accidentally left an open package of brunost in my backpack in the heat for like 4 days. It sweated a little but otherwise maintained it’s shape/consistency. Visiting my folks in the states so I ate it anyway. You’ll be fine.
I always bring some back with me to the US and it handles the 18-hour long trip just fine. We can get brunost here but Gudbrandsdalen is my favorite.
