As students get ready to return to school, Hamilton County health officials are reminding parents and guardians to make sure their children are up to date on required and recommended vaccinations.
The Hamilton County Health and Social Services Division is encouraging families to get vaccinations early to avoid the stress.
No appointment is required at the 3rd Street or Birchwood Health Department clinics.
Vaccines available include those for measles, mumps and rubella, chickenpox, polio, hepatitis A and B, and tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis. The meningococcal vaccine is required for students entering seventh grade, while the HPV vaccine is recommended.
Parents can also request their children’s immunization records online or in person at the 3rd Street location’s Golley Auditorium. In-person records will be available July 29 through August 12, from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
Health officials recommend requesting records early to avoid delays before the school year begins.
