Three people died Friday morning after a head-on crash in Solano County, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officers around 6:35 a.m. headed to Highway 113, just north of Hay Road and south of Dixon for the reported crash after getting a broadcast from the Golden Gate Communications Center, CHP said. While heading there, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office had also communicated that multiple people at the crash scene were unresponsive.

CHP said officers who arrived learned that the driver and passenger of a red pickup truck had died. Fire personnel also at the scene confirmed that the driver of a gray pickup truck also died.

Witness statements indicated that the red pickup truck was speeding and went into opposing lanes to try to pass other vehicles when it hit the gray pickup truck head-on, CHP said.

Prior to the head-on crash, CHP said the red pickup truck sideswiped a big rig. The big rig driver was not injured.

The identities of the three killed were not released.

CHP said Highway 113 remains closed in both directions, and there is no estimated time of reopening. Traffic is being diverted at Hay and Fry roads.
