All the information I can keep on reddit points to a non-EU citizen looking to work in a profession unrelated to their degree or training to require proof that there is no ” Germans, EU citizens or people who have a residence or settlement permit”, however I’ve seen on [make it in Germany](https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/visa-residence/skilled-immigration-act) that following the Skilled Immigration Act:
>**Accessing the German labour market:** It is now easier to enter the labour market. The qualified professional must possess an employment contract or a specific job offer and a qualification recognised in Germany. No [**priority check**](https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/service/glossary/glossar/do/show/priority-check) is undertaken by the [**Federal Employment Agency (BA)**](https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/service/glossary/glossar/do/show/federal-employment-agency-ba). This means that there is no verification process as to whether an applicant from Germany or the EU is available for the specific job. The Federal Employment Agency will still verify the employment conditions.
Is this correct? Is it contradictory, or does it somehow still apply?
Would my Aerospace Engineering degree be seen as a favourable factor when applying for IT sector jobs, or are they seen as unrelated professions? Is IT in enough demand that I have a good chance to land a job? I have already received an email back from a company asking me when I could relocate and if I have a work permit (which I do not yet).
How is the housing situation in Germany? If I obtain a job offer and work permit, could I, and should I, find housing before travelling?

Yes, this is still a thing. There are some exceptions though, qualifying for a Blue Card EU is one of those for example. Please check this document to see if your case belongs to these exceptions.

Why not apply for Aerospace? Qualified engineers are needed pretty badly here, and you would definitely get enough for a Blue Card.
We are in a massive housing crisis. Almost 0% chance you will be able to find something long term before arriving (that is not a scam).
https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/visa-residence/skilled-immigration-act this is all you need to consider.
