WASHINGTON (TNND) — Vice President J.D. Vance and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a “direct conversation” about the vice president’s recent comments about Israel, according to reports.
While Netanyahu visited the White House, he talked to Vance about his recent criticism of the Israeli government.
Netanyahu was not happy about Vance’s public criticism, according to a report from Axios.
Last month, Vance slammed Israeli politicians and said they shouldn’t attack “the only powerful ally” they have amid criticism of Trump’s Iran deal.
“Anybody in Israel who thinks their biggest problem is the president of the United States needs to wake up and smell the reality of the situation that that country is in,” Vance said during a press conference.
Axios reported that a senior Israeli official said that the conversation between two leaders was a “frank and candid conversation.”
The conversation was also reportedly productive.
“The Vice President and the Prime Minister agreed to continue pursuing opportunities for Israel and the United States to cooperate in areas of mutual interest and shared goals,” a U.S. official said in reference to the meeting.
Earlier this month, Vance went on the “Joe Rogan Experience” and said that disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein had connections with the highest levels of U.S. intelligence and Israeli intelligence.
