State firefighting resources have been mobilized to assist local crews continuing to battle the Fairview Fire, the Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) announced on Saturday night.
Officials with the State Emergency Operations Center dispatched five strike teams to join containment efforts near Mead, as well as SFMO personnel.

According to Spokane County Fire District 9, the Fariview Fire has grown to an estimated size of 979 acres.
“This remains a fast-moving fire, and crews continue working to protect lives and property,” officials stated.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said a fire is burning in the area of he Dwight Merkle Sports Complex.

Although Spokane County Fire District 9 said an emergency shelter was open at Northwood Middle School, dozens of evacuees at the location said the doors are locked and noone was there.

Evacuations for the 700-acre Fairview Fire expanded southward down to Lincoln/Pleasant Prairie.

Providence told NonStop Local it was taking seven patients from the VA center and seven from Holy Family Hospital who were forced to evacuate from wildfires around Spokane.
The Barking Lot at 15825 told NonStop Local it could accept evacuated animals.

The level 3 evacuation zone for the Fairview Fire has been expanded.
As of 5:30 pm, the following areas are under level 3 evacuations:
MT SPOKANE PARK DR ON THE NORTH. ORCHARD ON THE SOUTH. MARKET ON THE WEST. FORKER ON THE EAST.
PEONE ON THE NORTH. LINDGREN ON THE SOUTH. HWY 395 ON THE WEST AND BRUCE ON THE WEST.
Avista is telling residents in the Mead area that power may be off until Monday.

An evacuation center for people affected by the Fairview Fire opened at Northwood Middle School, according to Spokane County Fire District 9.
District 9 said the Fairview Fire’s forward progress has not yet been stopped.
“Please bear with us as we work to catch up. We have multiple incidents occurring throughout the county. For the latest evacuation information, please follow ,” the district wrote.

The Fairview fire in Mead is 250 acres large, according to WildCAD.
Updated August 1, 2026 3:28 p.m. to include WildCAD acreage.
SPOKANE, Wash. – Level 3 evacuations (Go! Leave Immediately!) were issued for residents in an area near northeast Spokane on Stoneman Road due to a 50-acre wildfire.
Evacuations apply to residents between Peone Road and Lindgren Road, and Market Street to Argonne Road.
Residents “must leave now due to the life-threatening conditions in your area! Monitor for info or visit Spokane911.com for current evacuation maps.”
The fire is 50 acres large, according to WildCAD.
The fire is the second evacuation area announced in Spokane County. The other started near Airway Heights.
