Since it’s the majority, shouldn’t this be called “Countries where police do carry guns”
Also, around 25% of gardaì do have access to guns
How did Britain manage to unarm their police? For us we basically made having a gun a death sentence for a good while so it sort of sorted itself
Hopefully it stays that way.
Wouldn’t trust Garda with guns, I’ve never met a Garda that’s not an arsehole and have never had positive experience with them. When I lived in the UK however their police force was always sound and always a positive experience.
Garda here seem to all be bully’s with god complexes including the ones I personally know off duty…
Not gonna lie; Malawi and Botswana are not two I expected to see on the list!
I can’t see this lasting for much longer.
We should be like Norway where every Garda is trained on how to use a gun, but doesn’t routinely carry it around and instead stores it securely in their car in the event of an emergency.
In the title “Do not carry guns” should have been blue, not “police”.
Yes, I’m boring.
And blessed we are for it in my opinion
TBH I think we need to start, at least with tazers. Things are getting worse out there. See the race riots of North Dublin. Not that the Gardaí did anything about those. And they’d probably just use the tazers on peaceful Irish protestors like when they beat the water protestors and the homeless squatters.
Y’know what, never mind, changed my mind 😛
There some transdev people with guns as well on the red line
There was a programme on rte about it. Beating confessions out of people.
The nordy’s have guns
hmmm, did a trip to UK recently and it seems there are more and more armed police officers on patrol. Was very rare to see 20 years ago but definitely feel like it’s changing over there.
Living in the UAE, I’ve never seen regular police carrying guns, so I don’t know what criteria they’re using.
I didnt realise we were such a minority. I would’ve thought Australian police don’t carry guns either.
Malawi have guns
They got NI wrong
Armed Response Units regularly patrol the streets
This is nice.
If the gardai need to access their guns they have to drive to Michael d higgins, and demand he honor his oath at which point they do a montage and MDH jumps through a skylight machine-gunning several as he hits the ground
PSNI are armed. BS map!!! 👎🏻
Well one thing we can thank the Brits for at least.
Aru and Eru are not on the street every day of the week.
Pretending armed guards aren’t a thing and that the PSNI aren’t equally as armed as they used to be
Just moved from Dublin to Poland and was freaked out by a police just chilling in the park holding a machine gun 😂
Those Damn Canadians
They still carry guns in NI
PSNI in NI still routinely carry guns
So basically all the best and my favourite countries
All’s good till you need one.
Almost all PSNI I have seen have weapons. Ive seen plenty with submachine gun/carbine type
