Motorcycle rider critically hurt after crashing into SUV in Poland, Maine
POLAND, Maine —
A man was in the hospital in critical condition after police said his motorcycle crashed into an SUV in Poland on Tuesday night.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office says Dylan Deconzo, 32, of Poland, was riding a motorcycle south on Bakerstown Road, also known as Route 11, toward Casco at about 8:35 p.m. when he hit an SUV, driven by a woman from Massachusetts, that was crossing west through the intersection with North Raymond Road.
Police say the motorcycle slid down Bakerstown Road and into the woods on the northbound side of the road. Deconzo, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and also slid down Bakerstown Road and into the ditch on the northbound side of the road.
He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and then transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland where he was in critical condition on Wednesday.
The driver of the SUV was not hurt.
Police said they were told by witnesses the motorcycle’s headlight was not on before the crash.
