A federal district court approved two major settlements in a PFAS pollution case New Jersey filed against the 3M Co. and businesses tied to historical Dupont.

The US District Court for the District of New Jersey said in an opinion issued Friday that a settlement valued at up to $2.5 billion offered by E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co., and five other companies historically tied to it is fair, reasonable, consistent with applicable law, and in the public interest.

Chief District Judge Renee Marie Bumb also approved a settlement of up to $450 million offered by 3M.
