Heading to Norway next week. Did I get unlucky and it actually always rain this much? Or does it always say this and it’s off and on?

  1. The westernmost areas of Norway are the wettest locations in Europe. If you plan a holiday to the fjords, expect rain. You might get lucky, though…

  2. It’s been an odd spring and summer, at least in Oslo. April and May were bone dry, then June has been alternating between nice and hot, and torrential downpours.

  3. Trondheim area here. It’s been rainy and wet like 90% of the time this spring. We got 3 nice days now and we’re getting rain again soon. Not a very good spring/summer this time around…

  4. I dont know the etymology behind Flåm (the place), but it can literally mean Flood (written with 0 instead of å)

  5. Summer rain in Norway can last for 1 minute or 1 week. You never know really. Summer Weather is kind of unpredictable up here.

  6. Hei friend. Weather in Norge can be tricky and change quickly. However, the next week seems to be rainy, especially the nord-west. The south around kristiansand looks better next week. So if you have the option to relocate, think about that.

For the best weather forecast, use [yr.no](https://yr.no). They also have an app.

  7. On the positive side… the fjord are even more beautiful if there is rain. Suddenly waterfals pop up. Some clouds role over the mountain edges. And you see more wildlife.

  8. Just checked the local weather forecast service yr.no and it seems you like you might be in for scattered rain showers most of the week in Flåm. The weather can change quickly in Norway though, so you might get lucky!
    Crossing my fingers for you!

  9. I haven’t lived in the Flåm area, but it is often such that we experience decent weather in the start of the day while the rain comes in the afternoon as the warm and humid air pushes in from the sea and over the mountains. I doubt that there will be a week of continous rain, but the Norwegian summer can be unforgiving… a couple of weeks ago we had marble size hail and thunderstorm where I live.

  10. For some reason the tourist pictures never show the actual weather on the West coast of Norway….

The mountains tend to make it rain, so it rains a lot on the west-coast.

  11. This is just how Norway is. Fantastic weather all week while you’re stuck at work, and Once the weekend comes and you’re on your way to your cabin in the Mountains its pouring down.

Absolutely not my current week Word for Word /s.
