Undisputed, undefeated champion. Alhamdulillah!
As a non Cypriot (but biased because I have family…) I think there is little that is as impressive as cypriots maintaining their cultural identity over the course of 2000 years and occupation by 3 of the most powerful european empires (Roman, Ottoman, British) and countless others. The place seems to have been taken, but seemingly never the people.
Ukraine would be winning now, but we can take second place (although if it’s about the amount of invasions then we can be winning still)
Being a strategically important island inbetween four or five great empires, what else to expect? It is a big success to have an independence, at least.
I mean…Cyprus is a great slice of heaven, no wonder people wanted it. Maybe it showing up on american search engines will teach more of them where the island actually is! Still amazes me meeting so many people who don’t even know where Cyprus is!
