The same publication placed Germany as the largest economy amongst EU countries at €4.5 trillion (~$5.2 trillion), equal to 23.8 per cent of the EU total. France followed with 15.8 per cent of the total, while Italy accounted for 12.0 per cent.
Eurostat put the EU’s GDP at €18.8 trillion (~$21.6 trillion) in 2025, setting the bloc-wide economic base for market planning.

Malta had the smallest share at 0.1 per cent, behind Cyprus, Estonia and Latvia at 0.2 per cent each.
At the other end of the range, Malta had the smallest economy in the EU at 0.1 per cent of the total, Eurostat said in a press release. Cyprus, Estonia and Latvia were each listed at 0.2 per cent.
