HONOLULU (Island News) – Supporters of Della Au Belatti have been out sign-waving as voters headed over to the polls on Saturday, Primary Election Day.
Volunteers were out all day in Honolulu, as well as in Kapolei, to make their final push for Belatti in what has become a closely watched Democratic race for lieutenant governor.
Belatti is a longtime state lawmaker who entered the race after stepping away from her campaign for Congress.
“We are on day 73 of the Belatti for LG campaign, it has been a whirlwind, a rollercoaster ride,” said Belatti. “We’ve had really positive shakas and people saying hi, and people saying they voted, and that’s really uplifting.”
Supporters of Della Au Belatti held sign-waving events across Honolulu and Kapolei to support her campaign in the closely watched Democratic race for lieutenant governor.
Belattis was originally running for Congress in District 1 against Ed Case. She switched races in May, dropping her congressional bid and entering the lieutenant governor race after the political landscape changed around Sylvia Luke.
Belattis says she wants to focus on affordability, housing, and healthcare if elected.
Della Au Belatti, a longtime state lawmaker whose campaign has focused on cost of living, housing, and government accountability, is holding her primary election watch party at Aloha Beer Company as results begin coming in.
Supporters hope Belatti’s years of experience at the State Capitol and her message on affordability, housing, and government accountability will grab votes.
Belatti says she is nervous and anxious to find out the results but she is also feeling optimistic and excited.
After sign-waving, Belatti supporters are expected to move to the Aloha Beer Company for her campaign party.
