  1. Independent councillor Jess Bailey commented:

    > “A very worrying pattern is emerging. Now we have Conservative run Devon County Council apparently failing in its safeguarding response to Humphreys in 2014, then also failing to examine its actions in the ten months since his conviction

    > “Surely, when there were so many red flags as there were in the Humphreys case you would have expected Devon County Council to have reviewed its response.

    > “Instead, it remained silent and only provided information and initiated a review when they were forced to do so by my direct questions. This silence will lead many people to wonder whether there has been some kind of cover-up.”

    > “We still do not know how Humphreys, whilst under criminal investigation for very serious offences against children, was allowed to continue being a Conservative councillor.”

The case seems to directly parallel the Wakefield Tory ex-MP now [convicted of sexual assault on a 15 year old boy](https://www.itv.com/news/calendar/2022-04-11/tory-mp-guilty-of-sexually-assaulting-teenage-boy), who “advised the government on child sexual exploitation while under police caution” [according to The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/apr/26/ex-tory-mp-guilty-of-molesting-boy-was-on-panel-advising-on-grooming-gangs):

    > He attended online meetings with the panel of sexual exploitation experts in July, September and November of 2020. Staffordshire police say he gave a written statement under caution in May 2020 addressing claims he had assaulted a minor.

    > The disclosures raise serious questions for the government and the Home Office over why he was appointed to a panel addressing child protection while under police investigation.

    > His involvement on the panel was disclosed publicly by the home secretary, Priti Patel, in December 2020 – a year after his victim said he had told the Conservative party about being abused in his own home.

    > The latest disclosures about Khan, who was expelled from the Conservatives after his conviction earlier this month, also raise questions for the party, which failed to record and then inform the Home Office about the molestation claims they received in 2019.

  2. “The Conservative-run county council has now conceded that it should have shared the referral from the child protection charity regarding Humphreys more widely.”

    Nice that.

  3. Wasn’t he the Mayor who sang ‘a finger of fun is just enough to give the kids a treat’ for Cadburys’ back in the 1970’s?

  4. Pretty obvious why…. he isn’t ethnic minority so it doesn’t matter. Even though, Home Office’s default average profile for a paedophile is white, middle-aged man.

  5. I think I recognise that building. Pretty sure we viewed a flat there.

I don’t want to know which one he lived in.

  6. I remember when my Tory MP slammed me on twitter last month for exclaiming how many paedophiles are in his party.

Me think the lady doth protest too much.

  7. Seems.like youre pretty hard pressed to find a Tory who isnt either a sexual predator or a complete fucking nonce.

Almost makes you sick when you see their fans wanting to vote for them again.
