Manzur discusses climate change while meeting with supporters in Manchester
MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Karishma Manzur met Monday with supporters in Manchester to discuss the topic of climate change.
Manzur, who is running against U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas in the Democratic Senate primary, spoke at KS Kitchen, an Indian and Nepali restaurant.
She said action must be taken to deal with climate change.
“We must reverse the course of this crisis, and you don’t have to really take it from me to understand what’s going on,” Manzur said. “Step outside of your air-conditioned home. Step outside your air-conditioned car and just see what’s going on.”
Manzur said putting an emphasis on renewable energy sources will reduce reliance on fossil fuels from the Middle East.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Monday that the contiguous United States experienced its hottest month ever in July. The average temperature was 76.89 degrees Fahrenheit, eclipsing the previous record set in July 1936 during the Dust Bowl.
