ROME, N.Y. — The man accused of stabbing another man to death in Rome returned to Oneida County Court.
Gregory Mignot Jr. is charged with murder in the death of 31-year-old Michael Brown.
Last month, Mignot rejected a plea offer from the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office of 22 years to life in prison and will go to trial.
Michael Brown’s body was found in April in a wooded area between Railroad Street and the 200 block of East Dominick Street in Rome.
Brown had a puncture wound in his chest.
Mignot’s attorney today dropped his Huntley hearing request.
Mignot is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 24 for an evidence suppression hearing.
If convicted, Mignot faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
