Well … If they want to distance them from democratic rules so desperately..we should probably let them go…
Oh really? I thought that Polish court is incompatible with constitution given the fact that it was chosen in an illegal manner. 🙂 They can say shit, nobody cares what a bunch of idiots who have ties with the ruling party has to say.
Actually if you read the article, it does not refer at all to European Union, but to the ECHR, which is completely distinct.
From what I can read the “issue” is that… tribunals are seen as a court in the “pact” but not in Poland’s constitution?
Ah petty nonsense being made an issue of by a party which is running out of ideas to score political points on. But thankfully for PiS, there are plenty of dimwitted polanophobes to play right into this.
If people wanted to do something about the issue, they’d be sanctionoing individuals invovled in all of this. On the other hand, punishing Poland as a whole plays into the hand of a party which has dropped quite a bit since the last election. By talking about punishing Poland or throwing it out, people just give them space to market themselves as the protectors of Poland.
Then again, for some people, wanting to throw Poland out never had anything to do with the government party or its antics…
At least we have the confirmation that the Polish constitution is completely worthless, meaning only what the ruling party want it to mean. It’s a sad state for the Polish democracy, when they distance themselves even from the ECHR at this point. It’s actually surprising they don’t get along better with Belarus, since they seem to share the same values at this point.
What is PiS government doing is unconstitutional… Court packing, embezzlement of public funds in Ministry of Justice, organizing illegal presidential election, financing their party from moneys of Polish Red Cross, trying to silence NIK chairman by arresting his son, breaking laws abut public broadcasters, overwhelming nepotism, etc, etc
Oh the daily anti Polish article is here, daily reminder that in Bulgaria we had worse rule of law, freedom of speech and media freedom by country, but since it was all caused by our former PM who had close ties to Merkel we got away with this shit, our prosecution literally blackmailed a businessman in giving away his treatment by preventing him from getting his hemodialysis. Our PM was literally the biggest amphetamine drug dealer in Eastern Europe, and our biggest oligarch was selling weapons to ISIS. But since we are all good with brussels nobody speaks about things like this.
Sad to see Poland and Hungary so desperately try to slide back into an authoritarian State… Really wish the EU had a proper kick mechanism installed so the threat would have some meaning behind it. As we saw with the gay free zones, once the free money is threatened to stop flowing, the Polish government will quickly go back on its stupidity.
Sad that such an approach is even necessary for a country of the size of Poland..
Lets gooo, finally people wake up.
When are we going to declare that Poland is incompatible with EU fiscal transfers?

Polish tribunal judges Polish constitution incompatible with constitution.

Well, new government after PiS should change constitution then.
Polish court says “Polish laws incompatible with human rights”.
Does this mean that Poland signatures on the EU treaties are invalid?
Let’s have our money back.
Poland outright rejecting human rights now? Okay, that’s a bit extreme…
Clickbait title. It is just another chapter of juidicary spat
It is just another chapter of judiciary conflict with EU. ECHR considers some polish judges as illegal and says their sentences are invalid. Whatever you think of the conflict it has many consequences for normal people as you may spend few years in court waiting for sentence only for it to be rejected by ECHR.
And they realized that just now, 18 years after joining the union and after already having claimed billions of Euros in various fundings?
I’m honestly so ashamed of my country right now. But please remember that most Poles do not support the government. Most like being in EU.
You might ask: Then why PiS is ruling if people don’t like it?
Well, in 2015 they didn’t seem too bad. After they won, they started to change things so that they would work in their favour. Public television openly slandered (and still does) the opposition. And so they won second time. And now they are all going nuts – because they can.
Most of their voters are old church-crazy geezers (not all, of course, but still). The church, with father Rydzyk leading, is actively supporting them (Rydzyk gets money for his various “investments”).

And we hope that PiS will lose next election.
Time to fix the constitution then.
