A three-kopek move in opposite directions leaves Ukrainians watching the gap between official rates and what banks and exchange offices actually offer.
For Wednesday, August 12, the National Bank of Ukraine raised the official exchange rate of the US dollar by 3 kopecks. At the same time, the euro fell by 3 kopecks.
Official exchange rates for August 12
The NBU set the following hryvnia exchange rates for the main foreign currencies:
US dollar – UAH 44.86, compared with UAH 44.83 on August 11;
euro – UAH 51.75, down from UAH 51.78 the previous day.
Dollar and euro exchange rates at banks
The average bank buying and selling rates are as follows:
US dollar: UAH 44.59 for buying and UAH 45.10 for selling;
euro: UAH 51.43 for buying and UAH 52.08 for selling.
Cash exchange rates at currency exchange offices
At currency exchange offices, the average cash rates on August 12 are:
US dollar: UAH 44.81 for buying and UAH 44.90 for selling;
euro: UAH 51.74 for buying and UAH 51.90 for selling.
Card exchange rates at the largest banks
Currency exchange rates for card transactions at PrivatBank and monobank are set within the following ranges:
PrivatBank: US dollar – from UAH 44.60 to UAH 45.04, euro – from UAH 51.40 to UAH 52.08;
monobank: US dollar – from UAH 44.63 to UAH 45.03, euro – from UAH 51.47 to UAH 52.06.
In the draft state budget for 2026, the government projected an average annual exchange rate of UAH 45.6 per US dollar.
